Winter Weekend Wear

As many of you know, mommin’ ain’t easy.  In many ways, as our kids get older, it gets easier.  They can communicate with us about their needs, keep themselves entertained, and depend on us less and less.  However, as they grow, they get involved in various sports and activities.  As moms, we are the managers of our tiny little humans as well as their chauffeurs.  Both Silvia and I have two kids; a boy and a girl.  My son Brody is now 4 and my daughter Bella is just shy of 18 months.  Silvia’s daughter Giulia is 10 and her son Matthew is 7.  On the weekends, we find ourselves constantly running around from place to place, barely balancing at times!  (Do you see what we did there?)  Brody is a very active kid and loves sports, so my weekends right now are filled with ice skating lessons (in preparation for ice hockey) and indoor soccer.  This Sunday, he actually has a double header.  Who knew kids his age played double headers?  Once spring arrives, we will throw tee-ball and swimming into the mix.  Bella will start dance lessons this summer.

This winter recently took a harsh turn on Long Island.  Just last week we got 14″ of snow, causing school to close for two days.  The snow is pretty and all, but the cold temperatures sometimes make me want to stay inside and hibernate.  Well, that’s not really an option when you have a kid that is active in sports.  Plus, there is only so much you can do with two small children at home! Therefore, all a mom can do is bundle up, wear something comfortable, and get going!  Today, we are sharing our typical mom-on-the-go winter weekend wear.

One thing that I absolutely love wearing this winter are these snow boots!  Okay, every blogger and their mother has been seen wearing these, but there is a reason… They are that good!  These boots are warm, comfortable, weatherproof, and of course, adorable.  They are a good investment that will last for years.  They come in a variety of colors and are available through many different retailers.  Actually, you can get them in brown for 25% off right now!

Another staple in my weekend wardrobe is leggings.  These are one of my favorite pairs.  They are stylish and trendy and work well with these boots.  I love how they have a faux leather legging look without feeling like faux leather leggings.  They are very soft and stretchy and thick enough to wear while shuffling the kids around in the cold weather.  Currently, if you buy one, you can get another for $19.90!

No winter wardrobe would be complete without a comfy ivory sweater, parka, and adorable beanie.  The sweater and parka I am wearing are from last season, but I found some very similar ones below.  Many retailers are having huge sales on coats, so now would be a good time to grab one!  You can use it now and next season.  This beanie is under $20!  I love the slouchy style and the cute little fur pom.  It also comes in a variety of colors.

Some of you have requested to see how we can transform our mom-on-the-go wear to mom-going-out wear, so here you go!  For this particular outfit, all you need to do is change out the boots for a pair of pumps (the ones I am wearing are 20% off right now!) and throw on a different jacket.  I am loving this teddy bear coat!  It is so soft and cozy, just as its name intends.  I purchased this one at Ooh La La Boutiques in Babylon, but I have linked some similar ones below.
