The One Shoulder Ruffle

Doesn’t the title of this post sound like it should be a dance move?  Possibly a single shoulder shimmy shake? Anyhow…

The ruffle trend is far from new.  It actually originated in the 16th century, but recently, the ruffle trend is everywhere!  Ruffles have been raging since the spring and haven’t shown any signs of fading out of the limelight.  I was talking to a friend the other day and she told me that she can’t stand ruffles.  She just can’t jump on board with this trend.  When I asked her why, she said, “It’s just too much.”  Ruffles can be very bold, but there are also ruffled pieces out there that make a more subtle statement.  Finding the right ruffle top is key!

It’s no secret that we love J.Crew!  Their designs always find a way to balance a classic style with the latest trend.  When I saw this top, I just had to have it!  Navy is one of my favorite colors for fall and I love the rich tone of this one.  This top has soft, romantic ruffle detailing at the top.  I also love that it has an elasticized ruffle cuff.  You have the option to tuck the ruffle under or push the sleeve up a bit and not have to worry about it moving.  (I have it tucked here.)  This is my top of choice for my next date night. <3  This top is perfect for anyone who wants to take on the trend, but doesn’t want to go overboard.  It has just the right amount of ruffle!

I know we are focusing on how to embrace the ruffle trend here, but I had to mention these jeans.  They are my new favorite!  I was drawn to the wash of these jeans.  It’s so hard to find a nice pair of dark colored jeans, but these were a no-brainer!  The fading of color is so subtle that it keeps this pair looking dressy.  I love that they are mid-rise and have a raw hem.

Can you tell that we really love this trend?  Here are some ruffled pics from our archives 😉

Thank you for stopping by!  Hope to see you soon! Xo
