Mad Over Plaid

Plaid isn’t just for school girls or lumberjacks anymore… This fall, it’s for everyone!  We know that the history of plaid in fashion goes way back (its first use was by Scottish clans) but for us, when we think of plaid fashion we automatically think of Cher from Clueless.  Anyone else?  How amazing was that yellow plaid skirt and matching jacket?  Not to mention the knee high white socks… Well, anyway… Plaid was in almost every designer’s collection this year and is definitely going to be a major fall trend.  There are so many plaid options out there right now, that anyone and everyone can incorporate this trend into their fall wardrobe.  We grew up during the 90s, so we love the classic grunge look and don’t hesitate to throw on a cool plaid flannel with a pair of ripped jeans or a leather skirt.  However, we are headed back to the classroom soon, so we decided to show you two looks that are great for work, but you could easily style these garbs for other occasions!

There are so many elements of this dress that we just love!  The cut is classic and sophisticated, but has modern edge due to it’s trendy-asymmetrical hem.  It’s body-hugging, but not too tight, so it’s completely appropriate for the office or classroom.  The material is stretchy and comfortable.  Online it says that it runs small online, but XS fit perfectly.  We decided to style the outfit with these amazing booties, although the dress would look great with pumps as well.

This skirt is just perfect!  Classic, but yet has that updated school girl look.  The fabric is soft, well made and has an a-line fit.  We love this because it gives the skirt a bit of a flare-type detail.  Also, the color of the skirt allows for top versatility.  Sounds technical ha ha.  But you know what we mean!  For this particular look, we paired it with a crisp white J.Crew button down and ankle strap heels.  A great teacher outfit and of course, works for any other profession 😉  This outfit will easily transition to winter as well — throw on a pair of tall boots and cozy sweater and you are off!

Plaid is something that you’ll see more and more of this fall.  We’re sure you’ll see us rocking this trend again in the near future 😉
