Floral Fun for the Fall

One of the HOTTEST trends from NY to Milan this fall is floral – couch floral that is.  Yes, you read correctly.  This pattern is not just for grandma’s couch anymore – lol!  All of the articles out there from the authorities in the fashion industry say this trend will be a staple for the fall.  Personally, I love floral!  It’s just pretty and reminds me of fairytales – lol. The floral patterns currently online and in stores are absolutely adorable and you can really find an article clothing that matches your personality.  I know the Nordstrom sale has ended but this pretty little Billabong number is under $60!  It reminds me of the baby doll dresses that were all the rage back in the 90s.  Do you guys remember that?

Historically, floral design was very exclusive, made by hand, and originated in Asia.  During the 1400’s and 1500’s trading became prevalent and this fabric design became very popular in Europe, particularly with royalty.  The style was commonly used in Italy and quickly became a staple all over the country, whether it be in the home or on clothing.  The period of Industrialization was really when the fabric design became popular worldwide.  There was no longer the need for one person to create the clothing… now machines would assist and make the material or textiles, as they are referred to, more commonplace.  Fun fact – the liberty print (commonly used by J.Crew) which is a smaller floral design, was created and made popular by a London based company Liberty London.  Sorry – I really do love learning about the origins of fashion!  So, at the end of the day, floral design is here to stay and the hottest designers are currently featuring this trend from shirts down to the shoes:)

Getting back to the dress…  The material is lightweight, has a slight bell sleeve and has tie detail in the front.  A cute detail about the dress is that the sleeve is cinched with elastic so you can easily pull the sleeve up or down depending on the weather.  The colors on this dress are fabulous as well – I love the blue and pink color combination 🙂  This outfit calls for subtle accessories – I opted for the J.Crew hinge bracelet to add to my look.

These Sam Edelman shoes are just perfect!  The neutral color (available in 6 additional colors) is very versatile and can be paired with jeans, a dress for work or even a night on the town.  I love the ankle strap detail and the heel is a perfect height!

This Gap dress is another great floral option.  This dress is also lightweight and can easily transition to fall!  Just add a cardi or denim jacket and a pair of heels (like the ones I linked above 😉 and you are ready to go.  Look at the cute cut out detail in the back!
