A Fall Wardrobe Staple

A black leather (or faux leather!) moto has become a staple (and dare I say classic?) in fall street style.  The leather motorcycle jacket rose to fashion stardom in the late 1920s, but its origin was more for practical use during World War I.  Fun fact: the first motorcycle jacket was designed for none other than…Harley Davidson and cost $5.50!  It has become the ultimate bad-ass, versatile jacket ever since.  For me, anytime I think of the moto jacket, James Dean from Rebel Without A Cause comes to mind.  It doesn’t get anymore bad-ass than that!

The black leather moto has been a part of fashion every single decade since its origin, but really didn’t enter women’s closets until the 1970s as feminists pushed for equality and rocker chicks began well, rocking them to break social norms.   Isn’t that just inspiring and super cool?  Maybe that’s why whenever we put on our black motos, we immediately feel ready to take on the day!

There are so many cool motos out there right now from real leather to faux leather to suede.  The style is completely versatile and practical for the fall.  Here we styled one of our favorites with a simple tee that’s under $20, a pair of girlfriend jeans, and our favorite pumps for the fall.  This moto was recently restocked after quickly selling out during the Nordtsrom Anniversary Sale.  It’s only $64.90 currently!  Red is going to be very popular this fall and this bag added a smooth texture and the perfect pop of color to this outfit.  (The jeans, pumps, and bag are currently on sale at Nordstrom.)  The moto really has such a “cool” factor to it and you can style it in so many different ways!  It’s definitely one of the best outwear pieces for the fall.
