A Little Leather Goes a Long Way

About eight years ago, right before I moved in with my now husband, my best friend and I emptied out my apartment and played a little game of, “To keep or not to keep.”  Now, Rickey and I have been best friends since tenth grade and I trust him with all of my heart.  He knows anything and everything about me and vice versa.  He’s my absolute go-to person for everything.  He’s NEVER steered me wrong…except for this one little thing. [yikes!]  As we were sorting through an enormous amount of clothing, we came across a pair of leather pants.  I loved these pants.  There was just something so cool and chic about them…and they weren’t cheap either!  However, at the time, leather pants were not in style, and I was convinced to toss them. Who knew they would come back…and actually stay around?  Luckily, there are great faux-leather pieces out there to fill the void, although I am determined to purchase the perfect pair of black leather pants at some point in this lifetime. (I’m dreaming about these beauties!)  While shopping around for a good faux-leather pair, I came across this adorable, faux-leather pleated skirt!  Pleated trend?  Faux-leather trend?  This skirt kills two birds with one stone, as some may say…

This fall, you’re going to see both real and faux leather go far beyond jackets!  From skirts, to pants, to dresses, and more!  If you’re like me and currently can’t splurge on the real thing, then why not find a good quality faux-leather piece instead?  This skirt is such good quality!  I’ve come across some faux-leather pants and skirts that just look so, well, fake.  Too plastic!  With this one, that is not the case!  I usually don’t wear this style of skirt (because I never think that it looks good on my body type), but when I saw it, I just had to try it!  I put it on and fell in love!  This skirt is fun, trendy, and little edgy.  It sits right above the knee, which makes it possible to wear to work.  I’m wearing it with a simple black tee to really highlight the pleats and material of the skirt, but a chunky sweater with booties or printed tee would go nicely too.

Being that it’s a bit longer in length, I threw on a shawl vest and changed up the accessories to make it more classroom or office appropriate.  I don’t wear skirts too often, but that might change now that I have this one!  J.Crew also makes this skirt in midi length that I’m tempted to get as well!  J.Crew often has sales, so keep an eye out for those discounts!

Thanks for stopping by!  Come back soon!  Xo
