The Perfect Pastel Sweater for Now and Later

Pastel colors have never really been my thing.  My closet is dominated by neutrals: black, white, gray, and nude.  It’s not that I don’t like pastels, but I just never felt that they looked good on me.  If I wanted to incorporate color into my look, I usually chose more saturated colors.  Once in a while, I’ll play around with blush pink, but I usually pair it with black to add some contrast.  Having a daughter changed all of this.  Bella is a “girly girl” and gravitates toward everything pink and purple.  She already at 18-months-old, has her own style.  She prefers wearing lighter colors.  Bella is sweet and affectionate with just a hint of mischief.  More and more, I have been including beautiful and soft pastel colors into my wardrobe.  Now, pastels remind me of her.  Don’t be surprised if you see me wearing more and more soft colors this spring.

My kids are frequently my shopping buddies, and just the other day, Brody picked out this sweater.  At first, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it, but I always try on anything that he picks out.  When I put it on, I fell in love!  The material is so soft and the colors are just so beautiful.  My shopping squad also gave it thumbs up.  Well, Brody did.  Bella was giddy with laughter.  Maybe it was a reaction to Brody’s silliness or maybe it was indeed the sweater.  Who knows?  Either way, I took it as a signal to go ahead and get it!  The price is also perfect…it’s only $19.99!

This sweater can be worn NOW or LATER.  I’ve styled it two ways so you can see how simple changes can transform the look for spring or winter.

Style #1:  Spring Ahead!

By adding white, you keep the look soft, which makes it perfect for early spring!  The jeans I am wearing with the “spring look” were extremely popular in 2017 and are not going out of style anytime soon.  I love these white pumps from last summer.  They are so chic and comfortable and luckily, they are still available!  Rebecca Minkoff makes amazing handbags and this small chevron handbag helps tie together this spring look.

Style #2:  Winter Wear

If you are still in the winter mindset but want to add a bit of color to your look, you can style this sweater with darker items.  I absolutely love these gray jeans!  I have been wearing them constantly.  They’re the perfect shade of gray and the frayed hem adds a bit of edge to the style.  They’re only $69, which is a great price for a jean of this quality.   A classic black pump, black aviators, and a black handbag helps pull together the outfit.  I also like the idea of throwing on a black moto jacket (like this one) to give the look a little edge.  I have always liked the combo of soft and edgy.
