Spring Ahead for Work

Have you ever sat in or in front of your closet and just stared at your clothes?  I literally do this almost everyday, especially during change of season.  Weekend wear is usually pretty simple, but getting ready for work when the temperatures start to fluctuate drives me bananas.  Working in a school, sometimes it’s super hot one day and the next day it can be so cold.  Well, a couple of weeks ago we had a few days of warmer temps here on Long Island and it made me start to think about spring and transitioning my wardrobe, particularly for work.  Therefore, I decided to mix and match some of my existing pieces to put together two easy work looks, that can be worn as soon as the temps start to rise.

I thought about the clothing pieces I really can’t live without and always boils down to a few key pieces — A blazer, white button up, classic navy pant and a green pair of utility pants.  These four pieces can really be worn with anything and are great neutrals to kick off the spring season.  It’s no surprise I love the classics, so below take a look at a two outfits that will spring forward your work outfits. 😉

#1)  The Classic Blazer

A blazer is a piece that never goes out of style and can really give an outfit a little something extra.  I have used this H&M blazer over utility pants, leggings, dresses and jeans!  On Friday’s we typically wear jeans to work and I always like to dress up my jeans…  My favorite way, yep you guessed it, a blazer!  For this particular look I added green utility pants, a white tee, a layering necklace and beige heels to complete the look.

#2)  Green Utility Pant

I have had these pants forever and absolutely love them.  The pant works with so many different tops like sweaters, button ups, blazers, etc…  The color is timeless and can be paired with a variety of colors from pink to beige.  For this look I have paired simply with a blazer, a white tee, a layering necklace and beige heels.

#3)  White Button Up

Everyone should own a white button up… am I right?  It is really the perfect top to dress up or dress down.  My favorite button up has a little bit of stretch and is a more fitted fit. I prefer a more tailored fit because when tucking into a pair of pants or not tucked over a pair of leggings I like a button up that hugs the curves a little 😉

#4)  Classic Navy Pant

These pants!  Ladies, the fit of these J.Crew classic navy pants are just perfect.  They are an easy fit, have elastic at the waist and slightly taper off at the ankle.  Talk about a perfect transition piece… these beauties can be for work, now and later!  They are very comfortable and look great with heels or flats as well.  To complete this look I added a white button up, beige heels, gold accessories (love blue and gold), Ray-Ban wayfarer sunnies and my favorite Michael Kors tote.

Below are the pieces featured in this post!  Some pieces are out of stock, however I found equally fabulous options.
